Twins

Today at #Children Ward we met these two adorable twin girls, that were born with a Caesarean section at #Nkinga hospital three days ago. They were born premature, but they and the mother are recovering quickly. Yesterday I observed my very first #childbirth of the child that you see in the last photo. It was amazing! The mother and the child are doing well. #premature #twins #newborns #Tanzania #nursingstudents #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

First Days at Nkinga Hospital

Our first days of clinical practice at Nkinga hospital have been very intense and educative. Two of us (me included) have spent these first days in the children ward, with patients as young as one day old. #newborns #Nkinga #hospital #nursingstudents #Tanzania #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

Thursday Celebrations

Every Thursday afternoon there is a #worship #service just outside the #church, and since we live in a house opposite the church, that means it is just outside our house. Today, the #Christmas celebrations began. #3daystillthebirthdayofJesus #timetoworship #egliseevangeliqueducongo #everydaylife #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

Swedish Planning Mind

Everyday #life in #Congo #Brazzaville. Even though my #Swedish planning mind consider one roll of #toiletpaper as "toilet paper soon finished, should immediately go and buy a new one", this is not the general thinking here in Congo. No, here something is #finished when it's finished, not before it's finished. Actually, it's finished when you have been missing it for some time. Therefore, I'd better get used to a few days without toilet paper... #culturaldifferences #diversity #congolesewayofthinking  #everydaylife #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

Anopheles

Anopheles. What is that? you might wonder. That, my dear readers, is the reason to why I am here in #Congo Brazzaville. The female #Anopheles #mosquito transfers the #malaria parasite from one human to another. Malaria kills people, and those most affected are children under five years of age and pregnant women. #DYK that every two minutes a child dies because of malaria? My task in #Brazzaville is to investigate how #nurses work to prevent malaria. An exciting and worthwhile work. #bachelorsthesis #nurse #malariaprevention #everydaylife #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

The Congolese Way of Thinking

The #Congolese way of thinking. I am absolutely sure that there is space in the car for this bag. Absolutely sure. If I just move it a little bit like this... #congolesewayofthinking #everydaylife #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

Water is Life

Everyday #life in #Congo #Brazzaville. The #joy when we have running #water in the tap! And the disappointment when we don't have it... Those days, things become just a little bit more complicated. For example, when I really need to go to the #toilet and I enter the bathroom and realize that there is no water and before I can sit down on the toilet to do what I need to do I first have to go outside the house to fill a bucket with water... Now, this is nothing compared to the about 1.2 million people in this country that have to walk kilometer after kilometer every day to fetch water, or the about 2100 million people around the #world that do the same! And after all, most days we do have running water in the tap. #waterislife #everydaylife #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska
