500th Anniversary of the Reformation

Everyday #life in #Congo #Brazzaville. This is me and Ruth. Ruth is a #missionary from Great Britain. Yesterday, we went together to a huge #worship service in one of Brazzaville's stadiums. It was a special occasion to celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the #Reformation. Many #Protestant churches were represented. A lot of people, a lot of songs and a lot of #joy! #timetoworship #everydaylife #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

Breakfast

Everyday #life in #Congo #Brazzaville. I usually start off my day with some white bread, marmalade, tea, #Congolese peanut butter and #bananas. Congolese bananas taste like no banana in Europe; here the taste is sweeter and fuller and better. #congolesebananas #peanutbutter #breakfast #everydaylife #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

The Clinic of Mayangui

This week I have spent some time at a #health clinic here in #Brazzaville called #Mayangui. This is the #clinic where I will collect information for my Bachelor's #thesis about #malaria #prevention. The clinic offers general consultations with a #doctor, #laboratory tests, #dentist appointments and #vaccinations of children, among other things. There is also a #maternity ward with #midwives delivering children around the clock. In front of the information sign I am standing side by side with the director of the clinic, Julien Kodia, who has given me a warm #welcome here. #healthclinic #congobrazzaville #bachelorsthesis #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

Electricity

The #electricity here in #Brazzaville disappears now and then, and with it, the #internet. It can be gone for one minute or ten hours, you never know. If the electricity disappears in the evening, the house and the entire district is turned into compact darkness and you might as well go to bed, even though it's only eight o'clock. Fortunately, we have electricity tonight, and I will go to bed not just yet. #congo #congobrazzaville #nursingstudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska

Worship Service

Sunday is the day for #worship #service. Yesterday, I visited a congregation called La Base in the #Evangelical Church of #Congo. The service started at #sunrise, six o'clock in the morning. At first, it seemed to be only me, my Swedish friends Christer and Bertil, the pastor and the choir #Kilombo. After about one hour, there were so many people that some of them had to sit outside the #church, and when the service was coming to an end, there were more than a thousand people there. Christer was #preaching in #French and #Lingala about security and trust in the Lord, and an interpreter translated into #Kikongo. The service finished at five minutes to nine, but it would probably have continued even longer if it hadn't been another worship service at nine o'clock. #timetoworship #egliseevangeliqueducongo #congobrazzaville #congolesetime #africantime #nursestudent #livetsomstudent #blivandesjuksköterska
